Role:
Approve and monitor foster homes. Ensure foster parents meet CINC children’s basic needs. CINC Team Member.
On-call rotation for after-hours abuse/neglect investigations/foster home emergencies – petition court for after-hours CINC removals and present in court.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
E 40% Recruit resource families for Native children in out of home placement. Work closely with resource families to determine and provide needed support services. License resource homes, monitor license and resolve licensing issues. Conduct monthly meeting with resource homes regarding placements. Track and process monthly resource home payments
E 25% Ensure resource homes are well-trained and supported to achieve positive outcomes. Develop and
conduct additional trainings for resource families, according to need. Participate in CINC Team
Member duties.
E 15% On-call rotation for after-hours abuse/neglect investigations/foster home emergencies. Petition court
for on-call emergency removals and present in court.
E 15% Provide timely and complete documentation for resource homes and CINC Team.
N 5% All other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
- Actively recruit resource families in-person and through social media monthly.
- Meet in-person with each resource family every month.
- License foster homes within 60 days of application being turned in. Resolve licensing issues within a timely manner.
- Provide needed support services within a timely manner. Update resource documentation monthly to ensure resource homes comply.
- Process monthly resource home payments by the 4th of the month.
- Conduct monthly trainings for resource families as needed per licensing standards and per resource family needs.
- CINC Team Member. Meet no less than twice a month with CINC team to discuss CINC case progression. CINC Team Lead will assign tasks. Worker will aid with:
- locating tribal, local, or state resources for families as related to case plan goals;
- filling out guardian paperwork for CINC youth;
- meeting with agencies and other staff to address client needs and concerns;
- transport youth;
- monitor and supervise visits.
- Complete documentation within a timely manner. Progress notes will be completed within 48 business hours of completed task. Resource home documentation will be noted, and copies provided to CINC Team within a timely manner.
- Complete on-call rotation, as needed.
- Petition court for on-call emergency removals as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours of removal and present in court.
- Meet weekly with CFS Manager for supervision.
Position Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements as indicated by the asterisk (*) by the closing date of this announcement.
Experience*
MINIMUM: Six months – two years of experience in child or youth care, teaching, foster care, delinquency prevention, juvenile court systems, community work related to children and youth, mental health systems, nursing or other areas involving contact or interaction with youth or families.
PREFERRED: Three or more years in child or youth care, teaching, foster care, delinquency prevention, juvenile court systems, community work related to children and youth, mental health systems, nursing or other areas involving contact or interaction with youth or families.
Education*
MINIMUM: Bachelor’s Degree or four years of accredited college course work and licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
PREFERRED: Master’s degree and licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
Driving Requirements*
Valid Kansas driver’s license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation’s insurance carrier.
Interpersonal Skills*
The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
Other Skills*
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal Law on abuse and neglect of individuals, Confidentiality Laws and Regulations and the Indian Child Welfare Act are highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required.
- Knowledge of PBPN customs and traditional beliefs surrounding children and families is desired and a willingness to learn is required.
- Knowledge of community resources and other systems as they relate to children and families.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.

- Ability to be available to work the assigned schedule of M-F, 8:00A-4:30P and available as needed to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position, which may include nights, weekends, holiday and overtime.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with employees, vendors, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and other agencies.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are based on an 8-hour workday and may vary to meet the demands of the department.
- Sitting for a period of 2 hours at one time with a total of 6 hours per day

- Walking for a period of 0.25 hour at one time with a total of 2 hours per day
- Lifting: up to 50 lbs. frequently; up to 25 lbs. occasionally

- Repetitive Action: use of right and left hand for simple grasping, pushing & pulling, fine manipulating and manual dexterity. Using feet for repetitive movements as in operational functions on a vehicle.
