The Child & Family Service Manager ensures the safety of Prairie Band Potawatomi children that are in or in need of Tribal custody. This position provides direct supervision to the CFS team including but not limited to; Lead Social Worker, Foster Home Social Worker, Independent Living Support Worker, ICWA Support Worker, Social Worker and (3) Child Welfare Case Managers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises 8 employees, which includes but is not limited to: assigning and reviewing work, instructing, training, establishing schedule, setting objectives, recommending hiring and disciplinary action.
- Overall management for short and long-term objectives for the Child & Family Services including: case management, treatment planning, court reports, staff performance evaluations, etc.
- Will complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports on programs and meet any grant reporting requirements.
- Oversee and report the monitoring of program budgets, inventory and expenditures.
- Monitor CPS investigations, training and supervision of case management, ongoing services as needed.
- Review the screening of new cases in determines the appropriateness for agency services
- Review court reports prior to submission. Attend court hearings when possible.
- Supervise the recruitment and approve Native American Family Foster Homes.
- Partner with state child placing agencies as it pertains to the care and welfare of the Nation’s children and families
- Assist in providing the coordination for Foster Parent training and TIPS-MAPP training.
- Oversee the development of emergency after hour services. Be reachable by phone 24 hours a day for services after hours when needed.
- Assist in the installment and use of electronic records for program records.
- Ensures that all required data and files are maintained to meet regulatory needs of outside agencies to include, applicable State, Federal, Tribal Codes, and BIA requirements.
- Attend Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) meetings and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services meetings as required.
- Monitor staff training to address learning goals and obtain necessary Continuing Education Development for all team members.
- Works closely with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribal Police, local law enforcement, Tribal and state courts, other Social Service Programs, and community partners as applicable.
- Assists in updating tribal codes as necessary relating to child welfare issues.
- Evaluates effectiveness of services provided by the Child and Family Services Program.
- Assures program policies and procedures are followed.
- Work with other Social Service programs to ensure coordination of services for the member’s needs.
- Ensures appropriate follow-up with other office/departmental requests for the exchange of information with agencies, departments and individuals for the coordination of care.
- Informs and consults frequently with the Social Services Administrator regarding program activities, issues, concerns and to seek guidance and direction through weekly supervision with the Social Services Administrator
- Be responsible for oversight of and/or be Social Security Representative Payee for Nation’s children.
- Complies with the Nation’s policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintains professional communication with all employees, management, and people outside of the organization.
- Maintains the integrity of sensitive information and always upholds confidentiality.
- Attends professional development workshops, organizational meetings, etc., as directed.
- Maintains full-time status by working a minimum of 40 hours per week within the assigned scheduled hours. Understands the need for a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the position which may include working outside normal working hours, overtime, and holidays. Arrives at work on time and submits leave requests in a timely manner.
- Complies with ON-CALL responsibilities by remaining reachable 24/7 either by cell phone or email and the ability to report in person within a reasonable timeframe, as needed.

Position Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements as indicated by the asterisk (*) by the closing date of this announcement.
Experience*
MINIMUM: Two years of managerial experience with knowledge of current Child Welfare issues.
PREFERRED: Five years of managerial experience with knowledge of current Child Welfare issues and Tribal and Grant requirements
Education*
MINIMUM: Master’s in social work (MSW), willing to be licensed within 6 months by the Kansas
Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
PREFERRED: Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)
Driving Requirements*
Valid driver’s license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation’s insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are based on an 8-hour workday and may vary to meet the demands of the department. The position requires significant physical exertion, including agility, dexterity, and stamina. Duties involve frequent walking, standing, bending, and squatting, with some crawling, climbing or reaching above shoulder level. Repetitive use of hand and feet movements for fine manipulation, or tasks like lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy objects (up to 100 pounds). Keyboarding for 4+ hours daily, with an average of 4 hours sitting, 1 1/2 hours standing, and 1 1/2 hours walking. Required to operate motor vehicles or equipment. Occasional travel and overnight stay may be required for training and
conferences.
Work Environment
The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., working at great heights, under extreme outdoor weather conditions, subject to possible physical attack or mob conditions, or similar situations where conditions cannot be controlled. Daily vicarious exposure to other’s physical and emotional trauma experiences can have severe and lasting effects on workers. May enter an unsafe or unsanitary environment while performing job duties; unsafe conditions such as verbal and potential physical conflicts are not allowed without law enforcement back up. May encounter abrasive, unpredictable, and violent people
